 Meeting N.

So, we´ve got this planned weeks ago and today was the day. I was supposed to meet ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif?v=92.1) spacedlaw in front of the Charlie Chiu restaurant situated in one of the most crowded parts of the Netherlands, namely Hoog Catharijne Utrecht. On Thursday she mailed me she was going to wear a grey raincoat, a green scarf and a black cap. I mailed back I didn´t have a clue yet what I was about to wear but she said she´d recognize me anyhow (putting an organic banana in my buttonhole crossed my mind though).
We made an appointment for 2 PM and right at that time we actually met *hurray for Dutch Railroadorg*. I instantly recognized her from a picture she posted quite recently. As a matter of fact, she did wear the clothes she said she would wear.
Now I´m always a bit worried beforehand when I´m supposed to meet someone from the virtual world (like N. put it so nicely). You never know how you will get along when talking face to face but actually there was nothing to worry about. N. is such a lovely lady, very easy going and interested in many different things. We decided to walk a bit in the shopping area of Utrecht (though forecasted, we didn´t see a bit of rain).
We came across my favourite bookstore and luckily N. is a fervent bookshopper too, so we spent some time in there. Then we went for N.´s favourite cookshop which is filled with handy but also superfluous stuff. They´ve got lots of fridgemagnets *wink to Ada*.
After that we settled down for a nice cup of tea/coffee with a "koekje" chatting about all kinds of things. N. has lived in the Netherlands for quite some years so she still understands many Dutch words. We talked about work, about living, about LJ and yes we talked about you guys! Before we actually knew it, hours went by and so we said goodbye at the trainstation for N. had to go to the airport.
N. if you read this, I hope you had a safe trip home! Thanks for the lovely couple of hours we spent together. It was so nice to finally meet you. Ciao.

Thanks Lex. It´s so nice you finally get to meet someone you correspond with for quite some time now. So Lex, I really hope the two of us will get the same chance too someday.
I am VERY curious about N.'s bag. Was it teapot-shaped? ;)

Yes it was. As a matter of fact it was a red teapot!

I saw it on one of the pictures she posted on her LJ and fell in love with it instantly.
It absolutely is an eye-catcher.

I am finally home, safe and dry.
Cesare is overjoyed but the cats are ignoring me purposefully.
It was great to meet you indeed and I enjoyed every bit of our escapade.

Good to know you´ve made it home safely. You´ve got away right in time because it´s raining cats and dogs over here!
I enjoyed our meeting just as much as you did and of course I´ll let you know when I visit Rome again. Thanks for your time and effort to come and meet me. Have a wonderful weekend.

Well actually, when I woke up this morning, I discovered that it was raining here too.
But that's fine because I plan to have a thoroughly lazy Sunday.
What a lovely way to spend the afternoon! I have no doubt that the two of you got along famously. There are some wonderful people here -- it would be so nice to meet more of them. Thanks for sharing your visit with us!
You´re welcome Dee. You´re right, it would be nice to meet more of our virtual friends in real life. You know what struck me? Though that´s the reason why we met actually, we hardly spoke about Alan. Mmmm food for thought.

Just saw you comment on the "meeting a virtual friend" post on gingermarmalade and had to laugh. To think that the text for this entry was actually written last wednesday... :) That wasn't too bad for weather forecast too.
Nope, if your boss kicks you out, I bet you won´t do bad as a weather-woman. But what´s with the Poffertjes-stuff? Somehow I must have missed the opportunity to have some Grand Marnier... Well, we can skip the Poedersuiker of course, considering eating outside in a windy country.

How great that you two got to meet! It's so nice to see various of us meeting up. Yay!
You´ve said that right. I was always in favour of a big Hen Convention but to organise such an event seems to be a problem. Instead of that we have to pleasure ourselves with those lovely "small" meetings. And I´m very glad I got the chance to meet N.
